IB

Mission

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Cathedral City High School IB Status

Cathedral City High School was officially authorized as an IB World School on December 29, 2014. IB instruction began in August 2015 with the then junior class eligible to fully participate in the IB diploma program. Over 25% of the CCHS staff is trained and as we begin our second year there are 35 full diploma students and over 200 students registered for individual IB classes. A group of our full diploma candidates attended a student IB conference in Barcelona last summer to initiate their CAS project and this summer another group went to a similar conference in Geneva.  We have a growing list of IB class offerings which include: math studies, chemistry, biology, environmental systems and societies, language and literature, history, French, German, Spanish, psychology, art, music and theatre. These courses offerings provide ample options for student selections.

IB University Recognition

Many colleges and universities have developed admissions policies which formally recognize the achievements of Diploma Programme students. The individual policies vary greatly but they all make it apparent that these universities understand and appreciate the Diploma Programme student and the rigour of the Diploma Programme itself. This recognition comes in many forms but the most common are: recruitment, admission, placement, credit and scholarships.

The IB mission and university recognition are found on their webpage www.ibo.org where additional detail on the IB program can be found.
